As terminally ill Jade Goody lay sedated in her hospital bed on Sunday, happy that she'd achieved her main goals before dying of getting married and having her sons christened, she could have been forgiven for thinking that was the end of the drama and she would now be allowed to die quietly and with dignity. But this is Jade - that thought was, of course, naive.
Yesterday afternoon at around 3pm, when husband Jack Tweed slipped out of her room at the Royal Marsden hospital in Chelsea to get a cup of tea from the canteen, a creepy weirdo entered Jade's room and began "chanting and praying" over her hospital bed. Jade's screams alerted hospital security, and they apprehended a 41-year old French woman, who was later found by police to be carrying a hammer. Max Clifford, Jade's publicist, said last night: "This is the last thing Jade needs at the moment. It was terrifying for her."
Her spirits had been lifted earlier in the day when a phone call came to her hospital bedside from Michael Jackson, who heard of Jade's plight from his brother Jermaine, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother with her in 2007. He also spoke to Jack, offering tickets to his comeback in July. A pal said: "He wished them the best. Jade and Jack were touched."
