Global cuisine for the global traveller

Review

Where is it?

Housed in the monied class's favourite hotel St Martin's Lane, Asia de Cuba is easily reached from Leicester Square and Charing Cross tube stations. On the edge of theatreland, Soho and Trafalgar Square, it couldn't be at a busier juncture.

What's it like?

Philippe Starck's stunning interior incorporates a dramatic collonaded space that feels intimate yet airy, decorated in bright whites and creams. "Art columns" are dotted around, large soaring columns with black and white stylish framed photographs. The best dishes include calamari, the vegetable spring rolls and the gorgeous Mexican spiced mini doughnuts with butterscotch sauce. There's lots of huge sharing platters if your party is hungry and sociable, otherwise there are smaller bento box portions for lunch or quick pre- and post-theatre meals. Prices are pretty cheap, you can do three courses for £30 easily.

Why does Johnny Ikon love it?

It's all about those doughnuts for me! Although the gorgeous, comfortable decor and celeb clientele aren't unwelcome either!
