Review

Where is it?

Located on Wells Street in Marylebone, Crystal is a short walk from Oxford Circus. It's mostly anonymous office blocks around here, so you have to like the club to come here.

What's it ike?

The stunning £2 million lighting rig inside Crystal is breathtaking, as is the sparkly blue bar. Despite the lack of a proper dance floor, the crowd are up for it and do their best to show off their moves around the tables. Crystal is a favourite with the Sloaney, horsey set as well as celebs like Lily Allen, Will Young and Jaime Winstone. There's also a fabulous dash of Eurotrash flashing Black Amex's to get a table. The music is a pretty great mix of funky house and commercial dance for the most part, though you sometimes find random tunes thrown in to confuse you - the odd power ballad or the Star Wars theme for instance. The only downside are the rude door staff, who keep you waiting for an unnecessarily long lengths of time.

What does Johnny Ikon love about it?

I love the braying snobs who come here, they make me giggle. I also think the venue is beautiful to look at, and the music generally avoids the r'n'b that I can't stand, which is all good!
