Much loved by West London's fashionistas

Review

Where is it?

On Portobello Road, The Electric Bar & Brasserie is a ten minute walk from Notting Hill Gate or Ladbroke Grove tube stations, and is easily identified by its wide frontage with access to the bar, brasserie and cinema.

What's it like?

The Electric packs in trendy and well-to-do Notting Hillbillies, mainly ladies who lunch and creatives who work around Portobello. It gets very busy, and you'll need to be prepared to wait at the bar if you don't book. Foodwise, there's everything from a great Eggs Benedict, smoked haddock and poached eggs, Beluga and Sevruga caviar, lobster, burgers and all sorts of great fish dishes. Prices range from £8.50 for a burger to £70 for the Beluga. The cocktails are outstanding, and cheap - only £7.50. Try the Cherry Passion, a long drink with cherry flavoured gin, passionfruit and ginger ale, which is sweet and refreshing. The Apple Mojito is also great and oh-so-strong!

Why does Johnny Ikon love it?

The Electric shouldn't be anything special - it's not cheap, the staff are arrogant and it's always too busy. However, it packs a punch because its crowd is great, the cocktails are wonderful and the food varied.
